Lobbying for coverage
Every year the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association holds a Policy Forum in Washington, DC, to inform and educate the nation's lawmakers about the needs of orthotic and prosthetic wearers.
Among this year's topics that O&P providers discussed with their representatives:
Orthotics and Prosthetics should be included among the essential health benefits in regulations HHS is writing to implement the Affordable Care Act (PPACA) as O&P services and devices fall within the definition of "rehabilitative services and devices" stated in the law.
