Advances in O&P
Speaking of AOPA...
Highlights from the meeting!
Otto Bock is famous for its C-Leg® prosthesis, but the Genium intuitive microprocessor-controlled knee is a new milestone in
microprocessor-controlled prosthetic knee joints, offering increased functionality to a larger patient group.
Integrating new technology, it closely mimics a natural gait, reducing the mental effort required of users when changing speed, walking up or down stairs, avoiding obstacles, and walking backwards and the knee joint has an incredible run time of up to five days.
 Remember hearing about Warren MacDonald?
He was the guy whose legs were trapped under a boulder in Australia? He was the AOPA Keynote Speaker.
Check him out on Larry King Live!

And...speaking of advances!
Ortho Pro Associates is now utilizing Otto Bock's Harmony elevated vacuum suspension.
What's that? The Harmony system effectively reduces the amount of air between the socket and the liner. This is achieved through the use of a pump and an exhaust valve. The system, which is activated at every step when using the mechanical pump or by a sensor with the electronic version, regulates the required negative pressure within a defined range.
That means the system:- Controls the volume of the residual limb and
- Simultaneously improves blood circulation.
High adhesion improves proprioception. The prosthesis wearer feels what is happening under his or her prosthetic foot. This increases safety in everyday life!
