Choose your Attitude How to remain cheerful
We may have an individual influence on the world and our environment. Changing what is around us may take a while as a result. As sure as the sun rises every day though, we can do something very quickly about our attitude and how we take the pressures of the day and the world around us.
The way we think affects us and we can fall in to bad mental habits as easily as we fall into bad physical habits like biting fingernails and other even less savoury habits!
Mental bad habits mean we get stuck with one way of thinking. Do you say negative things to yourself inside like, 'I'm never going to be able to do........!' or 'I can't do......' or 'I'm always a worrier.....' or 'I'm not technically minded...' or 'bad things always happen to me.....' and so on and so on?
Time to take stock of this! You think these thoughts in absolute terms. STOP! Ask yourself, is this ALWAYS the case. I can tell you now it is not so! You think negatively and you get used to reacting negatively and after a short while you find negativity in everything!
Change now!
Tell that inner voice to 'shut up!' Deliberately find the positive. In the shower each morning find the things in your mind to be thankful for and smile physically and mentally to yourself.
Do this for the next two weeks and you will have changed your attitude. When things don't work so well think about the positives you have learned.
This is the first day of the rest of your life. Choose to enjoy it and be positive.
Oh! And by the way, yawning is infectious - so is laughter - have a laugh to day - share a joke or a funny story........

Turning Dreams into Reality Setting goals you'll achieve
In numerous coaching sessions I have with clients, a common theme for support is that of achieving goals. We often have dreams and desires and equally often have difficulty turning our dreams into reality. Here are some useful tips about how to turn dreams to reality.
- Start 10 years from now and write down in detail specific targets from home life, work life and personal life. Be specific! Take your dreams and write them down.
- Work out targets which make common sense but are not too easy - something to really stretch for.
- Work backwards so that you know what you need to achieve each year to bring about your dreams.
- Then know what you need to do for the end of this year! Write it down in detail - (see the third quote below left). Create a thought in your mind in which you can see vivid success, hear it clearly and feel all the pleasure associated with succeeding your goal.
- You must write this down and pin it on the wall where you can see it everyday.
- Then you can work backward to now and notice the gaps you need to fill to achieve your goals! (By the way, you now have, as long as you include work goals, the basis of a business plan!).
- Find a picture or an object that, when you post it on the wall or put it on your desk, will remind you constantly of what your goals are.
Go 0n! Do it now! We'll work on filling the gaps later. Do this and you are already halfway to achieving your goals (see Abraham Lincoln's quote). Believe me - it works!

- Whenever you are in a business setting, you will be talking at some stage about your field of expertise. Two things to do:
- Talk about the benefits of employing you, not just features.
- Always ask for referrals. the worst that can happen is you'll get a refusal. the best is widening your access to the market throuhg word of mouth. Very powerful!
