Greetings!
Leap for success
A new year and new opportunities! I heard a successful local business man recently at a network meeting. He stood up and said, "I have chosen not to join the current recession". What a brilliant attitude and how right he is!There is no doubt that our environment is tougher nowadays but we can choose to react positively and get on with being successful. That is exactly what I choose to do and guess what - business is growing and life is great - so busy I have to book specific time out to write these letters.

Did you know that I will give a free one hour coaching session to everyone who asks! I mean a proper bona fide coaching session, not an exploratory meeting or a report compilation you get from some other providers.
Contact me on daveglees@btconnect.com to take up the offer. Have a look at my website to get a flavour of what I do www.integritusltd.co.uk - no pressure, no committment - just gain. Some people choose to employ my services afterwards...win/win!

Have a great month,

Dave.

Think success and Achieve success
Brain small It was Henry Ford who said, "Whether you think you can, or whether you think you can't, you are probably right!"

You can use your brain to help be more successful in many many ways. In today's environment there are some particularly valuable techniques you can use to ensure you remain successful. Here is one:
Firstly, help yourself by reducing your access to the gloom and doom merchants on the news and in the papers. They only want to spread negativity! Why fill your head with it all! No point, avoid it!
Next, get a clear idea in your head about your own success. Think of the end of June 2009 and imagine yourself on the last day of June relaxing in the sunshine with a nice glass of your favourite drink. Be there! Think about the success of the first half of the year, knowing you have over-achieved your ojectives for the first half of the year. Take a few moments to enjoy and know what your success is like. Think back through all the good things you have done to be so successful.
Now bring this positive experience back with you and enjoy knowing the success you are acheiving.

You now think you can! Believe me and believe yourself - You will and You are! Enjoy!
If their reply is 'No' - what next?

DB9 6:8My experience of three decades selling or teaching sales is that sales people of all experiences and levels can get stuck when a client or customer says 'No'. Remember that however successful and brilliant you are you will receive this response to some degree or other. I have a few tips to offer you for dealing with this situation and gaining from it.

The first thing to realise is that this is still an opportunity! All that has happened is that circumstances have changed and so must you to respond.

Next thing is to be armed with an apppropriate response such as:
  • "OK, thanks for listening to me, I wonder, is there anyone else you know who you could recommend me to, or to me, who would like this product or service?" No client ever really likes saying no to you and once they have done so they will, usually, be only too happy to recommend you to someone else.
  • "What would you need from me to enable you to say yes?" This will at least give you information about what the client wants from you so you can approach them more succssfully next time. Incidentally this is a good thing to ask before you ask them to buy!
  • At the last resort, ask when can you next Yesapproach them to discuss subject again. When people say no, it rarely means never. It often means circumstances are not right or you have not told them enough to convince them.

Tips and Wrinkles

1. We all have moments when we feel low. The moment you start to feel this way, tip your head back, look up, smile and say, 'today is a good day.' Go-on, do it now!

2.  I've seen a few business cards recently which are blank on the reverse. This is an opportunity for inclusion of three or four bullet points describing your speciality.
A marketing opportunity not to be missed when you next get a re-print.

3. Help yourself sleep better. Keep a small notebook and pen by your bed. Every night write a list of the positive things you have done that day. Write a list of the things you need to remember for tomorrow.

Quotes - Confident Future Success

We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible. - Vince Lombardi, 1913-1970, Hall of Fame American Football Coach

"The best way to predict the future is to create it!" - Alan Kay - American Computer Scientist

"Great minds have purposes, others have wishes." - Washington Irving, 1783-1859, American Author

"I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence, but it comes from within. It is there all the time." - Anna Freud, 1895-1982, Austrian-born Psychoanalyst

Book Review - The Mother of All Minds by Thinkologist - Dudley Lynch

MOAMHumankind has been prolific at producing outrageously unhealthy egos. But Dudley Lynch's groundbreaking new book, The Mother of All Minds: Leaping Free of an Outdated Human Nature, is about a different kind of ego.
Only the outrageously healthy ego, he says, can produce the kind of thinking skills and outcomes necessary to deal effectively with a world that isn't working out the way we thought it would.
Just a short time ago, many individuals whose heart was in the right place also thought their head and feet were, too. Thought the world was mellowing a little. Getting a tad kinder and easier. Becoming more controllable.

But those hopes have been largely dashed. Today, models of civility and egalitarianism, of idealism and conscientiousness, of fairness and responsiveness and responsibility, are clearly stressed, if not on the ropes. The world has never moved as swiftly in unexpected directions as it is moving now.
This is why few goals are more important in our times, says Brain Technologies' president in MOAM, than making certain our own personal mental faculties aren't frozen in time and brain tissue when so much
else around us is changing so explosively and problematically.
Mr. Lynch sees the outrageously healthy ego he espouses as the key to joining a new thinking elite taking shape at the cutting edge of human nature. The mind at this new level:
 has a built-in ethical corrective

  • isn't sidetracked easily by emotions
  • notices and responds to changes quickly
  • manages itself better than any manager can
  • enjoys newness and experimentation
  • acts swiftly to evade and remove bottlenecks
  • works well with people and technology
  • demonstrates complex personal competencies
  • enjoys making complicated situations work right

Equipped with this expanded new lineup of thinking skills, this author writes, you will be ready to think audaciously, live strategically and act wiseheartedly! Which, he says, should be more than enough personal satisfaction and reward for the most outrageous of healthy egos.
The Mother of All Minds is strong medicine, for strong-minded readers ready and willing to make the leap.
