Backing up your data is something that can only do good in the long run. As a tech I cannot overstate how essential a good backup is. Many people view back ups as an expensive hassle, but over time programmers have listened and made backing up much easier for the end user. Below are three easy and cost effective options for backing up your data on a PC and a MAC.
1. Carbonite.
Carbonite is priced at about $59 a year and you can back up almost unlimited data offsite. Carbonite servers use the same high encryption level as banks. Setup is very easy, and by default Carbonite is programmed to find and back up your documents, music, videos, pictures, and even your email. Backups are done automatically and in the background so you wont be disturbed wit
h the process when working on the computer.

2. Clickfree backup drive.
For those who are not comfortable backing up data offsite, Clickfree offers what is probably the easiest external backup drive you can buy. For about $120 you can have a system that could not be much easier. All you do is plug the drive into your PC or MAC and it literally does the rest for you. The software automatically searches your computer, finds all your important files, and backs them up, all in a matter of minutes. Clickfree is also a great solution for families with multiple computers as it can be used to backup everyone's computer.
3. Windows 7 backup or MAC Time Machine.
If you have upgraded or purchased a new computer within the last 3 years you can use Window's built in backup features. Mac users can use Time Machine for backups. These are great options. Suitable external drives to backup to start as low as $60. Setup is pretty easy with either Operating System, and once configured both will run in the background.
