Living the Word Reflection Prayer Groups Forming for Lent

Small groups of 7 to 10 parishioners are forming for the Lenten season to pray and reflect over the Sunday Scripture readings. These groups will gather once each week in parishioners' homes. This will allow people to get to know other members of the parish and to take time out of their schedules to reflect with others on God's word in our lives. We will use the Living the Word reflection books as our primary resource for prayer and reflection.

Groups will meet on various evenings (tbd) during each week of Lent. The evenings will consist of the reading of the Sunday scriptures (one or two readings) followed by reflection, discussion, and prayer. The evenings will conclude with simple hospitality provided by the host.

Can you offer your home and lead a group for Lent?

We are currently looking for members of the parish who would be willing to offer your home and lead a group one night each week during Lent. A simple training resource is available to those who are willing to lead a group. Host/leaders are also welcome to invite friends to join their particular Living the Word group. We are hoping to have ten different groups this year! Those wishing to sign up for a group or offer to lead a group may contact David Anderson or Vicky Tufano. You may also call Vicky at 708-434-1533.

About Living the Word

Living the Word

LIVING THE WORD...opportunity, challenge, commitment

Opportunity: Living the Word is an opportunity for us to grow in our knowledge and love of God through the prayerful reading and study of the scriptures.

Challenge: Living the Word is a challenge to make more time for God in our daily lives. We challenge ourselves to come to Mass each week ready to hear God's Word proclaimed and to take that Word to the world!

Commitment: Living the Word invites us to commit ourselves to spending time with God's Word several times each week. As we read and reread these scriptures, think about the words we read, and bring these words to prayer, we encounter Christ, God's Living Word.
