United Way of Anderson County (UWAC) and their community partners are calling on the public to help collect and donate new electric fans for elderly residents and low-income families. "Many individuals in the county face sweltering heat and humidity inside their homes each summer," said Rick Morrow, UWAC Executive Director. "Living in such conditions is not only very uncomfortable, but for those with health issues, it can even be deadly. Our Fan Drive will allow us to distribute fans in a community-wide relief effort. The success of this drive will depend on the charitable contributions, compassion and awareness of all citizens."

Interested businesses and residents are encouraged to donate new fans by dropping them off at the United Way of Anderson County offices, 161 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fans will be distributed to individuals in need in Anderson and Campbell County. Monetary donations are also being accepted. Checks may be made payable to: "Fan Drive c/o United Way of Anderson County" and mailed to 161 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37831.
