Anderson County - Stepping Up
2009 Campaign Chair Leigha Edwards and our newest Volunteer, Hudson
The Momentum is building We are very early in receiving our campaign results, yet excitement is building! Oak Ridge National Lab's campaign went over the $1,000,000 mark for the second year in a row and the Anderson County portion of that increased 18%! Oak Ridge Associated University's total campaign increased 20%! Remotec increased their giving by 25%. Donors who were unable to contribute last year due to the economy are coming back this year. And yes, we realize that good news comes quickly and the hard news comes late. However, I do truly believe that we here in Anderson County will once again surpass our goal. And please remember, our goal is not so much dollars raised as individuals helped. Why do I say this with confidence? I have lived here my whole life. I know the people in our community. I know here in Anderson County, in East Tennessee, in America - we will always reach out a hand to our neighbors during their time of need. Long before the United Way of America made it their official tagline, we here in Clinton, in Oak Ridge, in Claxton, in Lake City, in Briceville - we Live United.

November is National Home Care Month

Thelma Cope celebrating her 100th birthday!
Clinch River Home Health (CRHH) is a Medicare-certified home health agency, serving clients in Anderson and surrounding counties. Our mission is to provide quality, affordable, in-home skilled and personal care services to community residents, regardless of age, race, sex, religious affiliation, or income. We supply skilled nursing services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, medical social services, and certified nursing assistants (home health aides and homemakers) to insured and non-insured clients. Most clients pay personally or have Medicare or private insurance.
As I write this today I just finished listening to Bill Dombi, the Attorney for the National Association of Home Care give a talk about the Health Care reform bill that has been passed by the House of Representatives. As the bill currently stands home health care coverage will be cut. He said that if the bill goes into effect as currently passed by the House approximately 1/3 of the home health agency will cease to exist. Of these, most will be the small not-for profit agencies like CRHH.
As a not-for-profit agency registered as a 501(c)(3) corporations, we receive support from the United Way of Anderson County, government agencies, churches, other organizations, and individuals (whose contributions are tax-deductible). This support and our limited earnings from normal business activity sustain our charitable mission, which focuses primarily on our Home Health and Respite Programs.
To Anderson Countyresidents for whom adequate insurance or personal resources are not available, our Home Health Program can provide our services on a sliding-scale fee based on total monthly household income. This is effective in enabling a client to live independently at home as long as possible. Our Respite Program can provide Anderson County residents, at no cost to the recipient, up to four hours per week of relief to the in-home caregiver of a severely debilitated shut-in. This relief is often the difference that continues to make the stay at home possible.
CRHH is a UWAC Community Partner addressing the needs of our seniors. For more information, please call 865-457-4263 or visit: www.crhh.net
