Practical Chaplaincy-May 7, 14, 21, 28, June 4

National Center for Chaplain Development is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization which provides practical community support and spiritual counsel to emergency service workers, those in crisis, secular society and those persons in transition by meeting their needs. Trained and licensed chaplains will provide counsel, education, advocacy, life improvement skills and recovery training, providing a bridge between the secular and spiritual environments of community life throughout the world. This new 45 hour curriculum will take your chaplaincy to the next level. This WILL NOT be a lecture only course but will employ adult learning best practices and be heavily slanted towards adult learning activities to develop skill based competencies and outcomes. This course will include case studies, scenarios and active student involvement. Come prepared to learn and take your chaplaincy to the next level!

- 4.5 Continuing Education Units with the International Conference of Police Chaplain.
Registration fees will be charged for continuing education units based upon the following fee structure effective January 2011 and will be collected at class on the last day of the course:
- 1-24 hours = $75.00

Special co-presenters Chaplain Marilynn Kimball, Chief of Bureau of Victim Services for San Bernardino and Erin Runnion (mother of Samantha Runnion of the Joyful Child Foundation) will join us as co-presenters. National Center for Chaplain Development in collaboration with Not One More Child is a revolutionary partnership incorporating the strengths of two great organizations, The Joyful Child Foundation, radKids, in a national initiative working within communities to build a stronger and safer world to ensure that not one more child suffers the pain and violence of predatory crime. Everyone who attends this day will become a certified ambassador to work with us.

- Not One More Child Safety Education Ambassador Program
- Introduction to Preventing Child Abduction and Molestation - To provide adults with an overview of crimes against children in America and the programs and purposes of the Not One More Child Safety education Initiative. This section will provide specific steps that adults can take to reduce the risk of violence against children as well as information about what to do and expect shoulld a child go missing. Topics include the statistics of abuse and abduction, Amber Alert, child ID kits, and what to do if a child goes missing.
- Recognizing Predatory Behaviors -To provide adults with information about typical tactics and behaviors of child molesters and abductors so that they can better recognize and respond to potentially dangerous people or situations. This section is designed to reduce unnecessary fear about released sex offenders by focusing on what we can do to eliminate opportunities for inappropriate contact with children regardless. Topics covered include Megan's Law and the National Sex Offender Public Website, the spectrum of sex crimes, how general assumptions about sex crimes help predators and hurt victims, why and how children are targeted, typical grooming behaviors, and creating family and community rules to intervene when someone is demonstrating potentially predatory behaviors.
- A Parent's Companion to radKIDS Teaching Children about Safety -To provide parents with an understanding of the radKIDS educational model and familiarity with the radKIDS curriculum, rules and vocabulary used so that parents know how to reinforce the lessons and lay the foundation for ongoing communication, responsibility and learning. Adults will learn great tips about teaching their children about personal safety so all parents, educators, law enforcement, EMS personnel, mental health professionals and anyone who works and loves children ought to be in attendance.
