Tilt and Recline Manual Wheelchairs Reference Sheet
This reference sheet compares 16 different (non pediatric) manual tilt wheelchairs - keep this reference sheet handy when making wheelchair decisions for your clients. If you misplace it, remember that copies of all our reference sheets are in the Health Care Professional area of our website.
One chair we like is the Stellar Express. The revised Express with Seating package combining the Comfort Company Headrest and Acta Back offers an excellent tilt package. Just add an appropriate cushion.

20 degree Tilt-in-Space Wheelchair Comparison
Review the differences in the key features of the T20 Express, Capell and Bentley Express tilt-in-space wheelchairs. Our reference sheet provides comparisons on everything from weight capacity and back angle adjustment to transit tie downs and price. One advantage of the T20 is the flexibility to convert it to a T50 if tilt beyond 20 degrees is needed at a later date.

Home Adaptations for Independence (HAFI) - Important Points
After reviewing the Application Guide for the BC Housing Home Adaptations for Independence( HAFI) program - we wanted to share a few points:
- The program is generally geared to home owners with lower income and few financial assets - landlords and tenants can also apply - they must both apply
- Home value must be below the average assessed value for homes in the area
- Assets including bank accounts, stocks, bonds, term deposits, mutual funds, business equity, land and real estate (excluding the home, car, RRSPs, RESPs, RDSPs)must be less than $100,000 in value
- Resident must have a permanent disability
- Qualifying adaptations are wide ranging - the key component is that they are fixed and permanent in nature - thus a permanent floor to ceiling lift is permitted, a portable system is not
- The Program gets an annual budget allocation and once used up must wait until the new budget before funding new applications - the early bird gets the worm
The BC Housing website has more information. |
