November 3, 2011
Greetings!
Now that it is November, we can say Christmas is on its way!! We have set the dates for the SelfCare Christmas Luncheons - lots of prizes, presents and surprises. We hope you will join us to celebrate the holiday season and thank you for the opportunity to work with you over the past year. Our RSVP is attached.
It didn't take long! Congratulations to Pamela Shah (Surrey Store) and husband Hash on the arrival of their first child, a son, Ethan Arun, on Friday, October 28.
We discuss raised toilet seats on a daily basis with clients, so in this issue we let you know about our favourites. Our Raised Toilet Seat Reference Sheet has also been updated and attached.
We liked it so much we bought it ourselves. The BigHorn threshold ramp is so skid free we have purchased one for the transition between the pavement and door frame at our North Vancouver store. Produced from recycled plastic and using ceramic quartz for the no slip surface, come by the store to take a look at it for yourself.
Note on Christmas Closures: SelfCare locations will be closed on Monday, December 26th, Tuesday, December 27th and Monday, January 2nd.
Did a specific new product spark your interest? Let me know (kim.mackie@selfcarehome.com) and we'll include it in a product comparison or feature.
We look forward to providing you with useful information throughout the year. Please contact us at any time if you have any comments, questions or topics you want covered by an inservice by emailing kim.mackie@selfcarehome.com.

Our Five Favourite Raised Toilet Seats
What do the Rehosoft, Aquatec and Savannah all have in common. These 4 inch raised toilet seats are three of our top 5 picks. Find out why.
> Find out more about our favorite five seats
Here is our updated reference sheet. SelfCare only sells raised toilet seats that lock onto the toilet and our installation and delivery technicians ensure the toilet seat is securely and properly installed. There haven't been many toilets where we couldn't provide a safe option!

A Happy MS Society Wheelchair Recipient
Alice Lowe received a power wheelchair from the MS Society's EPP pool in 2010. SelfCare provided all the support in getting the chair to Alice as well as ensured it was adjusted properly and that it was in good working condition. Here is Alice's thank you note to the MS Society:
"I am so grateful for the power wheelchair provided to me through the Equipment Provision Program. I use the power chair as sole transport system, which has increased my independence and self esteem. The power chair allows me to be a full person, at work, at home and in my community. I don't like having to be dependent on anyone, and the wheelchair has greatly increased my independence and gives me the freedom to be self-reliant for all my needs.
I use my wheelchair to get to my job at CTV where I cover the lunch hour break at reception. Without my chair I couldn't participate in this part time job, and it's very important to me to be out and actively participating in the community.
For me, it's improved my overall well being, physically and mentally and makes me a stronger person." |
