SelfCare - And the Winner is ...REE Review

Thanks again to Ian Denison and his team for organizing the annual Rehab Equipment Expo (REE). It is always an excellent opportunity for the health care community to discuss and exchange information regarding products and processes.

REE 2011 Photo Summary

SelfCare introduced several new products at the REE last week. Two products we know you will be interested in were recently introduced by ArjoHuntleigh. (BHM Medical is now integrated into ArjoHuntleigh) These new products are:

1) Minuet 2 Full Electric Bed
Ideal for the home with attractive wooden ends and a sleek design, this quiet full electric bed has an excellent range from 8 3/4" to 25 ¼". In addition to the built in bed extension, it offers 2 impressive features, Intelligent Profiling and Pro-Contour Advance Profiling, to improve patient comfort and reduce pressure and shear when using the head up function. We've updated the Bed Reference Sheet to provide you with a quick comparison.

2) Sara Lite Standing Lift
Replacement for the mini stand, this new lift from ArjoHuntleigh offers a smaller based than the Invacare options. It provides for a leg strap that velcros around the back of the calf of the user to attach his/her legs firmly to the knee pad. The sling is lift specific. Attached is a quick comparison of common Standing Lifts.

REE Review - Quick Points

Over the next couple of e-newsletters, we will be covering some of the new (or newer) products that were at the REE including:

Capella Tilt Chair

New mattresses from Essential Medical Products including the Gel-In and Gel-Matrix mattresses and inserts. These inserts will be an interesting option for our T Style mattress.
New Ocean Commode with an actual SOFT SEAT that is soft! 5 product improvements will be featured in the new Ocean to be launched later this month. This improvements include a higher 330 lb weight capacity and new back attachment so the Ocean can be pushed back further over the toilet.
New Capella Tilt Chair from Future Mobility set ups to compete with the other 20 degree tilt chairs - the Fuse T20 and the Relax. An updated tilt wheelchair handout will be released soon.
A tub mount swivel transfer bench was displayed at the REE - SelfCare already has a demo of this product. Call us for more details.
An option to remember! The Sunrise Threshold Ramps can be customized to be any colour that Dupont makes. They have a very firm, sandpaper rough surface which is quite different from the recycled tire threshold ramps SelfCare has in stock.
Topro new gutter attachments and umbrella attachment look like good options.

A beautiful sunny day saw the successful completion of the Whistler Gran Fondo by the SelfCare team of Darryl Mackie (4 hours 14 minutes) and Kim Mackie (a more leisurely 6 hours 1 minute). We'll definitely be back next year.
