SPOTLIGHT FEATURE

Video Recommendation by Gail Gutierrez:

"1700% Project: Mistaken for Muslim"

As seen on vimeo.com

1700% Project: Mistaken for Muslim
1700% Project: Mistaken for Muslim

As part of her maARTe Project, the current Joy de la Cruz Art & Activism intern, Gail Gutierrez screened a five minute video of the 1700% Project: Mistaken for Muslim. If you missed it, now's your chance to view it in the comfort of your own space. The video is an adaptation to a performance poetry piece by Anida Yoeu Ali, which takes a look at the dramatic increase of hate crimes post 9/11 and the cases of mistaken identity.
