 The Myth of Europe: Whiteness[?] and
 Transnationalism

  Cross-Cultural Center Art Space

 Leslie Quintanilla will be speaking on her study
 abroad & activism in Italy, including the Italian
 student movement and Migrant Rights
 movement in Europe. Photographs of Leslie's
 protest participation will be on display.
 
 Dr. Pasquale Verdicchio of Italian Studies will speak about the 
 racialization of Italians as white in the U.S. and the problematic issues
 tied to it. Dr. Fatima El Tayeb of Literature will speak about her
 research in the area of Whiteness in a European context. This will be a
 dialogue between audience & presenters, NOT a lecture. What is
 Whiteness? What is Europe? Does European mean white? What if a
 Mexican migrated to France, what is the identity of the children?

 Mujeres Revolucionarias

 Visual Arts Facility (located by Pepper Canyon)

 Mujeres revolucionarias is a T-shirt making
 event inspired by revolutionary women in
 history. This is event will honor women who have
 been instrumental in social justice movements
 not only in the US but internartionally as well. Colectiva Chicana and
 the Cross-Cultural Center team up to bring awareness to the mujeres
 (women) who have struggled and are not too often recognized. This is
 a chance to learn some herstories and design a T-shirt featuring women
 you are inspired by. T-shirts will be provided. Questions?
