Professor  Dennis Childs discusses the racial, class, and gender dynamics of the PIC, how communities have expressed resistance to it, and the importance of college students getting involved in prison abolition.

Blending rich vocal textures with echoes of rock, blues, funk, African, Latin and Caribbean music, Umalali is an entrancing journey into the heart and soul of Garifuna women whose strength, hard work, and perseverance provide the bedrock of their community.

'Between Friends', is a group for Koreans at UCSD who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, or questioning.  We aim to provide an inclusive, private, and confidential space for queer Koreans to dialogue, build community, and productively address/discuss the intersections of our identities in a safe environment.

Meetings will be held in the conference room of the Cross-Cultural Center (2nd floor of Price Center) 4:00pm-5:00 on Wednesdays of odd weeks (3, 5, 7, 9).

The purpose of the program is to provide a unique opportunity for students to live and study at important institutions of higher learning that are significantly different from the social and educational environment typical of California state colleges and universities. Similarly, the exchange students coming to UCSD from Morehouse and Spelman will have an opportunity to experience an exciting and very different educational environment.

2010 Summer Research Program
 
Funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Hughes Scholar Summer Research Program (SRP) at UC San Diego aims to prepare undergraduates for a career in research, promote scholarship in the sciences, enabling undergraduates to achieve their highest academic goals, and increase underrepresented groups in post-graduate research and higher education.
  • You must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA
  • You must have taken one college level biology and chemistry course
  • You must fill out an application to become a member of the UCSD Hughes Scholars Program
An intensive ten week, full-time summer experience beginning June 21-and ending on August 27 where each participating scholar accepted to the program will conduct cutting edge research under a UCSD faculty mentor or at l
