WOMYN  OF COLOR WRITINGS
Two amazing events TODAY! Wed., April 22 at the Cross-Cultural Center  
 
2-4PM:
 Pinay poet Ruby Veridiano-Ching will be leading a writing workshop as a part of the Cross-Cultural Center's Afternooner Series. 
 
6-8PM: A night of spoken word poetry and art featuring Ruby Veridiano-Ching of spoken word collective iLL-Literacy. Students artists and writers will also be performing. 
 
Light refreshments will be served at both events.

WATER IN FOCUS & CLEAN WATER NOW!
In honor of Earth Day, the Cross-Cultural Center, The Loft, Outside the Lens, and ArtPower! presents "Water In Focus". You are invited to attend these events which draw attention to issues of environmental justice and communities of color on both side of the border. 
 
 
CLEAN WATER NOW! PRESENTATION

In conjunction with the Water in Focus exhibition, the CCC will be offering a workshop with photographer Jason Benjamin Smith and Benjamin McCue of Wild Coast's Clean Water Now! who will talk about the pollution in the Tijuana River and how it impacts people on both side of the border. The workshop will focus on how the Tijuana river pollution is an environmental justice issue, and what we can all do to keep our water clean and people safe. For more information contact Lea Burgess-Carland.

Outside the Lens, ArtPower! Film, The Loft and The Cross-Cultural Center  present Water in Focus, a global photography project and multimedia exhibition that calls youth to action as they document the use, waste, conservation and pollution of our most precious resource through words and images. �Habla Mujer, Habla! is a space established by mujeres for mujeres to come together and talk chicana2about, reflect on and acknowledge our struggles and experiences as students, activists, womyn of color, partners, AB-540 students, victims of domestic violence, and other pieces of our identities. Reclaim our identities and paths as Latinas, Chicanas, womyn of color, and allies. Abolish the divisions between mujeres and womyn created by society and sadly ourselves. BEYOND LA JOLLA: RED LIGHT MOVEMENT
Sun., April 26 | 2:30-7:30PM | Balboa Park, San Diego | $10 (transportation included)
 
Red Light Movement is a rally to end the violence of human trafficking. Designed to gather global redlightcitizens in a global movement, Red Light Movement will spread awareness through a 3k walk (1.8 mile) downtown, speakers and action booths hosted by local anti-trafficking organizations. Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery where individuals are exploited for combat, sex, labor and drugs. This phenomenon takes place all over the world including San Diego. Therefore, it is key raise awareness on this issue so that solutions can be created to curb the injustice.
