Public Art at UCSD

Students, Staff, and Faculty are concerned that for too long there has been a monopoly on public art at UCSD controlled by a small group of people.  That monopoly has produced a cold and rather sterile environment with artworks that are either curiosities (e.g., Sun God) or pieces that appeal only to the most elite specialists (e.g. the Teddy Bear and the Price Center East clocks).

Check out these images that suggest what the UCSD campus might look like in the future.

Spring CUDLI Workshops

The following workshops are available for our Social Justice Peer Educators to present for your group or organization:

Fluidity Workshop: How do I Change and Grow?
This workshop will deeply explore the ways in which identities shift, grow, and change over time.

Intersectionality Workshop: How do I Fit?
This session will "dig deeper" into diversity. Issues of multiple identities and cross-issue organizing will be discussed, as it relates to social justice.
Target and Agent Workshop:

Who Am I?
In this workshop participants will focus issues of power, privilege, and oppression. We will discuss how individuals or groups of people might be most challenged or be most likely to succeed within the institution and the larger community.

Social Justice Quote of the Week
"I'm worried that students will take their obedient place in society and look to become successful cogs in the wheel - let the wheel spin them around as it wants without taking a look at what they're doing. I'm concerned that students not become passive acceptors of the official doctrine that's handed down to them from the White House, the media, textbooks, teachers and preachers." - Howard Zinn
