Come read about the technology of gunpowder, silk, ceramics, the outrigger canoe, Korean metallurgy, and other inventions. Learn about prominent Asian-American Nobel Prize winners Yuan T. Lee (Chemistry), Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar (Physics), Tsung-Dao Lee (Physics), Steven Chu (Physics), H. Gobind Khorana (Medicine), and Samuel C.C. Ting (Physics). Parents and students will learn more about the getting to college, college life and how to obtain an advanced degree.We welcome students (grades 6-12) and their families to participate in this event. The UC San Diego faculty, students and staff will have a series of workshops and presentations for you to attend. You will learn more about the university and the variety of opportunities UC San Diego has to offer. Transportation for this event will be available in different places through San Diego County. Community Bonfire after Rainbow GraduationSaturday, June 7th, at Mission Bay, fire rings near boat ramp and cove
As a post-Rainbow Graduation community event, the LGBT Staff and Faculty Association is hosting a bonfire the night of Saturday June 7th at 7 PM, at Mission Bay/De Anza cove and boat ramp. Every year we celebrate the end of an Academic year, to celebrate our graduating students, and just generally have a good time, away from work. The event is a potluck so bring some food, or snacks, or drinks to share.

OASIS Hiring Discussion Facilitators for Summer Bridge Program in 2008.
The facilitators will work with the Contemporary Issues in Higher Education course taught by Dr. Patrick Velasquez, the Director of OASIS. The facilitators must be available for approximately seventeen hours per week from July 27 through August 29. Their duties include meeting regularly with a diverse group of ten students to discuss course readings and lectures, meeting with students individually to provide support, and working with a team of lecturers and facilitators. It's a great teaching experience and an opportunity to contribute to equity and diversity at UCSD.
