The Campus Community Centers are accepting applications for the Chancellor's Undergraduate Diversity Learning Initiative (CUDLI), a 10-week social justice institute. CUDLI is an experiential gathering of learners framed by a commitment to personal growth regarding issues of social justice.
Applications and information are available at http://community.ucsd.edu and are due by 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 29.
Hard copies of applications are also available at the Women's Center, Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center and Cross Cultural Center.

Dr. Joan Heller-Brown, Chair and Professor of Pharmacology, UCSD
Light refreshments will be provided. Please join us in hearing Dr. Heller-Brown talk about her path to a career in research, academia and how perseverance, passion and serendipity were used along the path to success. Heller Brown's research focuses on how neurotransmitters and other chemical mediators affect various signaling pathways, causing altered cell growth or survival. Her studies examine various molecular messengers formed within cells that ultimately regulate cellular activity involved in cardiovascular diseases such as cardiac hypertrophy, hypertension and heart failure, and responses of the brain to disease and injury. She has published more than 140 papers and reviews in top ranked journals.

The Social Cost of Homophobia Part of the Inquiries lecture series with Sean Boileau, Thurs. Feb. 21 from 5-7:30pm at the LGBT Resource Center
During this presentation, research will be reviewed related to the negative results of homphobia on gay, lesbian and bisexual people and the "human impact" of such negative effects. It's open to everyone so feel free to join us Thursday night! "Inquiries" is a short lecture series presented by Sean Boileau, a 5th year Ph.D. student from Arizona State University. The series is designed to provide a time and space to discuss selected issues around sexual orientation and identity which may or may not be getting addressed elsewhere, in an interactive, informative, and casual environment. The Coming Out Group is a place to meet and gain  support while discussing your sexual and/or gender identities in a confidential setting. This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight or questioning folks who are coming out and who may already be out. Topics are deter-mined by group participants, and can include coming out to yourself, coming out to family, coming out to friends, coming out and the work place, and coming out at school. Mexican Migration and Field Research Program
Undergraduates interested in the year-long Mexican Migration and Field Research Program (MMFRP) have the exciting opportunity to conduct graduate level research, earn a minor in International Migration Studies and prepare for a future career in law, journalism, academia or non-profit work. Participants in the MMFRP conduct fieldwork in a migrant sending town in rural Mexico and co-author a chapter in a published book on Mexican Migration. Grants for the MMFRP cover all participants travel related expenses. Students with data analysis, research, writing, and fieldwork experience or interest from any major are encouraged to apply. Spanish proficiency, letters of recommendation, resume and writing sample are required for an interview with MMFRP.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund
HSF scholarship applications for the 2008-2009 academic year are now available online.
General eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Be of Hispanic heritage
- Be a high school senior, undergraduate or graduate college student
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Have a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA
- Must apply for federal financial aid using the FAFSA
- Must plan to enroll FULL-TIME in a degree seeking program at a U.S. accredited institution in the 2008-2009 academic year.

Apply for Udall Scholarship
The Udall Scholarship for $5,000 seeks to reward undergraduates who are involved in tribal governance or tribal health issues.
Criteria:
- Current 2007-08 sophomores or juniors, or 5th year seniors in 2008-09
- US citizen or permanent resident
- 3.0+ GPA, and a member of a tribe or band.
Recipients must agree to attend the Udall scholar orientation weekend, Aug. 2-6, in Tucson, Arizona (expenses paid).

The CRS Symposium, "Race, Sexuality & the Law: Abercrombie, Imus & Beyond" will feature interdisciplinary academic panels exploring the role of law, culture,media and communities in shaping representations of race, gender and sexual orientation.The event is FREE to the public
The Symposium convenes over 300 people from law schools, ethnic studies and race-related research centers, graduate and undergraduate programs, law firms, legal services organizations and community-based social change agencies from across the country.
