Camp has started, but there's still room for you!
Be a Hero - Living Like Jesus
The 2010 Summer Camping Program has begun...and we're still registering campers! Templed Hills and Pilgrim Hills are alive with campers from second grade to grandparents, Being a Hero and Living like Jesus.
What is a hero? In the movies and on TV, heroes fly, melt, throw fire, transform and thwart the powers of evil. Being a hero for God is recognizing a need, realizing that something can be done, having the faith you can make a difference, and taking the risk to act. More

Here's what's in store for Ohio Conference Youth and Young Adults
Put this 4-year rotation of wider church events for young people on your church's youth calendar so you know what's coming up next!
By Margaret Mills, EOA/WRA Minister for Stewardship, Christian Education and Youth Ministry
At the Ohio Conference Annual Gathering, I was asked to present some information on youth and young adults for the pastors new to the Ohio Conference. This is what they heard.
The Ohio Conference does not have a staff person designated for youth and young adult ministries. In EOA and WRA, I serve in that role, and often it spills over into the Conference setting. Here's what we are about in EOA and WRA and thus the Ohio Conference. More |
Investing from the Heart, Building for the Future
The Cornerstone Fund was created in 1995 to offer loans to local churches and other organizations related to the United Church of Christ for virtually any property-related project.
Working much like a bank, the Cornerstone Fund offers interest-bearing investments to United Church of Christ churches and members - and that principal is used in turn to fund loans to other churches and organizations throughout the denomination. Learn more |
Disaster Response Updates
TORNADO STRIKES NW OHIO / UCC RESPONSE: The tornado in Millbury Ohio, near Toledo, has impacted the UCC. St. Peter's UCC in Millbury is being used as a feeding site and staging area for some of the recovery efforts.
The rest of the Ohio Conference can direct a response through our Conference Disaster Response Ministries. Contact Jim Ditzler, Coordinator, by email or phone (330-262-3242). As needs surface, they will be publicized. Meanwhile, keep in prayer those who are grieving loss of life and property, and those who are surrounding the victims with prayer, presence, and service.
Monetary donations can be made to: Ohio Conference UCC, Disaster Response, 6161 Busch Blvd, Ste 100, Columbus OH 43229, with the notation: "Tornado Clean-up, Millbury."
URGENT NEED - FLOOD RECOVERY: Following the torrential rains experienced on Memorial Day in the Chesterland area, many homes flooded. Kimm Leinger with Geauga United Way has requested help with recovery from this flooding. Anyone able to help empty basements and garages, please contact her at 440-285-2261, ext. 222.

Conference Minister's Corner
Challenges, Choices and Consequences
"Challenges, Choices, and Consequences" was the theme for the Regional Youth Event held June 17-20 at Defiance College.
I shared with the 300-plus youth gathered from Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio that I have faced three major challenges in my life, necessitating choices, and resulting in consequences that have been with me the rest of my life. More |
