Peacemaking Moment
Year after year we pray each Christmas for Peace on Earth, and then we unwrap the presents from our friends and family. But, what if our gifts were not wrapped in paper and ribbon? What if instead we were given a portion of Peace on Earth?
Last year, the family of Bob Gross had a chance to find out:
Calista, a niece of Bob, told her family she wanted an alternative to traditional gifts. She asked instead the amount they would have spent on a present be sent as a donation to On Earth Peace. A surprisingly mature gift idea from a thirteen year old, reflecting a real understanding of the meaning of season.
If you are interested in honoring a loved one by giving the gift of peace this season, On Earth Peace will send your loved one a beautiful holiday card acknowledging each gift.
Cards are available in any amount, here are a few examples:
$ 20.00 will cover the cost of an information packet on counter recruitment packet.
$75.00 will provide scholarship assistance to one pastor or seminary student attending a Ministry of Reconciliation workshop.
$1800.00 will provide the support for one member of next summer's Youth Peace Travel Team.
To order cards, you may make a gift by sending a check to On Earth Peace at P.O. Box 188, New Windsor, MD 21776. When sending the donation, please include the names and mailing addresses for your loved ones so that we can send them a beautiful holiday card via regular mail.
