Money and Happiness by Karen Karsten
If you could buy happiness, what would you buy? I recently read several articles about money and happiness and it got me thinking about the connection. It comes up as a topic from my clients all the time: "If I had more money, I'd be happy." Turns out they might be on to something.
Okay, I know the subject for this month is supposed to be about harvesting and paying yourself first, but today is my birthday and I am choosing to write about happiness and money instead. I thought about my birthday celebrations and realized that it wasn't the gifts I have gotten that I remember (although I do remember the red tricycle I got when I was four). It was the experience of being with family and friends and doing something together that stands out.
So, money and happiness. Can money buy happiness? A recent study by Princeton University evaluated two very different views of happiness: emotional well being (how people feel) and how people evaluated their lives (what they think about their lives). Read more on our blog... |
