What the Heck is Monetary Identity?
Monetary Identity is our theme this month. You probably didn't know what to call it, but everybody has one. Monetary identity is your relationship to your resources-how you interact with them. Usually when someone hits the wall of "Why am I not moving up the financial ladder," is when they become aware of their monetary identity and how that looks to others.
As women grow into higher earning potentials, the unspoken rules for success change. Implied meanings that women may not be aware of and personal positioning as a whole person becomes just as important as a written resume. Many women are left to figure out how to bridge the gap between where they are now and where they need to go.
A new skill set is needed for those who have worked to their natural potential and yet intuitively feel that the internal picture in their mind is not matching the feelings that are in their hearts. Creative problem solving is one way to look at it but it is far more complex- it is aligning your resources in a way that fits onto your belief system to create a seamless roadmap of identity.
Four ways to get a better relationship to your resources: 1.Work on your network. Make new friends, get contact information, and for heavens sake- get on the phone and say HI! 2. Take role call: gather all the resources you have and make a a list. Gather bank statements, insurance information and put it in one place. 3. Use present resources: stop reinventing the wheel. You have friends that know how to fix a leaky faucet and you have friends that can help you repair the rip in your couch. Call them and keep that cash in your pocket.
