Celebrate Your Life!

Honor the richness in your life by recognizing it

Celebration is this month's theme and there is no faster way to increase your prosperity than to celebrate the accomplishments of yourself and those you love.  Take three minutes and make a list of ten things that you can celebrate. Things that may have gotten off your radar as you pushed forward with the demands of daily life. Things like a friend that has a new job, an anniversary of significance, a child that got an A on a test, your car being paid off, a new office, or a nagging chore getting done.  Celebration is a tool that allows us to honor the growth of ourselves and those that we love.
One of our Rich Chicks members started counting how many years she and her friend had been pals, and discovered they had been best friends for over 35 years and had never celebrated that accomplishment! In addition to celebrating that right now, they made plans to do so every five years with a nice anniversary dinner and festive photo.  Another member started celebrating the garden she had worked on for years by throwing a yearly garden party, A single mom celebrates payday with her kids and they go out for an affordable dinner every two weeks no matter what the bills look like. In the months they have an extra payday they go to a movie and have popcorn at the theater. The normal two times out to dinner and three paycheck months sure are fun! We have another member that celebrated paying off her car buy having it deep cleaned and detailed-she felt like she had a NEW car.
The fact is it is hard to feel broke and miserable when there is a celebration in the air and that happy thought will bring you a greater sense of wealth.  So make a quick list of things that you would like to celebrate and start enjoying the life you have.

Crave Restaurant Offers  Thanksgiving Dinner to Those in Need

Thanksgiving dinner is a tradition that can really stress out an already stressed budget. We all know friends, neighbors, coworkers, or family members that are going through tough times and are struggling to make ends meet, and it's time that they got some uplifting news.
CRAVE Restaurants and local community service organizations are partnering to provide an exciting opportunity for working families this Thanksgiving.
The owners and staff of CRAVE have generously offered a complementary Thanksgiving dinner to those who are going through tough times but would really appreciate a great meal on Thanksgiving in an outstanding restaurant.
As Zach Sussman of Crave says, "We are choosing to work with our community partners who also hold a prosperity belief that offering people tools to lift themselves to a better place is the best way to help those who are trying to keep their heads above water. Today our tool is a random act of kindness for a family that could sure enjoy a FUN experience.
What we are looking to do is have your agency locate the people that would benefit from this experience and pass this information along to them. Please work with them to assure they will be attending, and help us give them and their entire family a fine dining experience to lift their spirits."

Thanksgiving Day: November 26, 2009

Paying it Forward

We need gift cards for transitioning families!

The Welcome Home Program through RICH CHICKS is a gifting program that picks up where nonprofit organizations leave off.  We help families that have demonstrated the ability and desire to lift themselves out of poverty and offer them monthly financial education, mentorship, and access to a new community of women who are not living in poverty.
We also create a Welcome Home Basket for each member of the family and one for the entire family, filled with the basic items that they need to set up a home when they are able to move their family out of the homeless shelter. We work with these families sometimes for months to get to know them and their families needs.  Our fulfillment program was designed by one of the women this program once served and by offering participants the chance to "pay it forward" we create a key concept in breaking poverty mentality.
RICH CHICKS goes directly into the community 12 times a year to teach basic financial education to a community that is drastically underserved by financial education. We service those parents who are part of the Project Secure Program through Head Start and are staying at the local shelters People serving People or Mary's Place.  We need gas cards, grocery store cards, Target cards, Footlocker, Marshalls-you get the idea,  You can also buy discounted gift cards at www.plasticjungle.com
Holiday time approaches- please drop off gift cards and other items for our families- Gift cards can be mailed to RICH CHICKS Welcome Home Program 4542 Newton Ave North Minneapolis MN 55419
Contact  us if you have questions or would like more information about helping these families.
