God of all mercy, we confess that we have sinned against you, opposing your will in our lives. We have denied your goodness in each other, in ourselves, and in the world you have created. We repent of the evil that enslaves us, the evil we have done, and the evil done on our behalf. Forgive, restore and strengthen us through our Savior Jesus Chris, that we may abide in your love and serve only your will. Amen.

Bishop's Easter Message
In the midst of this Holy Week, we fully grapple with the enormity of the sacrifice of Jesus as he moved from a parade of palms to the pain of the passion. We are reminded once again that God is not remote and distant from us, but through Christ, enters our lives filled as they are with both sorrow and joy.
In the season of Easter that is upon us, we make an awesome claim that God who relentlessly pursues us in love will not abandon us. We are not left to sin and evil; we are not left to death. The miracle of the empty tomb is a promise of life. Between Good Friday and Easter, something happens to Jesus. Between Good Friday and Easter, something should likewise happen to us. We too are to be changed.

Earth Day, Good Friday converge
From Episcopal News Service
As Holy Week continues and Good Friday and Earth Day coincide, the Episcopal Church has compiled liturgical, educational and other resources for incorporating earth-care themes into services and celebrations. Read more
This year, Earth Day falls on Good Friday--a profound coincidence. On the day we mark the crucifixion of Christ, let us remember that when Earth is degraded and species go extinct, a part of God's body experiences a different type of crucifixion, and another way of seeing and experiencing God is diminished.
To fully honor Earth Day, we need to reclaim the theology that knows Earth is "very good" and holy. When we fully recognize this, our actions will create a more sustainable, compassionate economy and way of life.

World Malaria Day is April 25 | |
Every 60 seconds, a child dies from malaria, a completely preventable disease.
|
With over 247 million cases of malaria occurring annually, NetsforLifeŽ continues to be an innovative global player in the fight against this deadly disease. In commemoration of World Malaria Day 2011: Achieving Progress and Impact, the NetsforLifeŽ program partnership is working to ensure that sustainable gains on both the national and community levels of its malaria prevention approach are maintained and bolstered. For World Malaria Day 2011, NetsforLifeŽ will join with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) in Mozambique to hang 100,000 malaria nets in homes in the Homoine and Panda Districts of Inhambane Province. Over the course of five days, 180 volunteers will be trained to help families learn how to use nets to prevent malaria, and an additional 400 volunteers will be mobilized for the distribution of nets.
