Renewal of Ordination Vows
As we have for the last several years, Lutheran and Episcopal priests, deacons and pastors will come together to renew their vows of service to God and the church on the Tuesday of Holy Week.
About 200 leaders of the Pacifica Synod Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego are expected to attend. A light fellowship meal will be available following the service.
The Episcopal cathedral hosts the event every year and the Episcopal and Lutheran leaders alternate between celebrating the Eucharist and preaching the sermon.
Pacifica Synod ELCA Bishop the Rev. Murray D. Finck and Episcopal Bishop of San Diego, the Rt. Rev. James R. Mathes, will preside at the Eucharist and lead the renewal of vows rites. Sacramental oil for the coming year will be blessed at the services as well.
Please contact Isabel Lynne (619-481-5455) to confirm your attendance and indicate your intentions for lunch. Barring good cause and due notification of the bishop, all clergy of the diocese are expected to attend.

Camp Stevens Sunday | |
Camp Stevens Sunday lifts up the life of our diocesan camp.
|
Please support the mission of our diocesan camp, to "help individuals of all ages deepen their sense of reverence and respect for themselves, and their fellow human beings, the creation, and God."
Camp Stevens also seeks to be a peaceful 'place apart' for nurturing, planning, reflection, exchange of ideas, and sharing in Christian community.
Set up an information table during coffee hour. Invite people who have experienced the beauty and community of Camp Stevens to speak during the sermon time. Insert colorful brochures in your bulletins. Help Camp Stevens gain a foothold in your congregation. Contact Peter Bergstrom for more information, 760-765-0028.
