School for Congregational Leadership
scl day sm 2

Canon Young discusses audits with vestry and bishop's committee members.

Over one hundred people turned out for the School for Congregational Leadership at All Souls' in Point Loma last Saturday. People described the day using words like, "useful," "pragmatic," "thoughtful," "excellent," and "informative."

Geared toward the new vestry or bishop's committee member, the day covered best practices for vestries, treasurers, administrators, communicators and clergy.

The Office of the Bishop would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Rev. Mike Russell, rector of All Souls', for baking pot pies for our lunch, and to the staff and volunteers at All Souls' for their hospitality. It was a one-of-a-kind day that gave many new insight and friendships across congregational ties.

Church Deployment Office Profiles Terminate April 1, 2011
episcopal shield

Please make sure your information in the new Office for Transition Ministry Portfolio is correct, as the old Church Deployment Office profiles will terminate on April 1. After that time you will not be able to access information in the old system.

The Office and Board for Transition Ministry are in the process of rolling out a new database, the OTM Portfolio, to replace the old CDO Profile database. The application is designed using state-of-the-art technology to offer the greatest potential for individuals and worshiping communities to express who they are as gifted and talented ministers of the Episcopal Church. The new system has been live since October 26.

For more information, contact the Office for Transition Ministry, 212-922-5251.

Two more of our clergy community have taken the leap of faith and started recording their sermons.

Encode your mobile recoding AMR files into high-quality, noncorrupted MP3 files so you can share them online. Thanks to the Rev. Freund for this!

Congratulations to St. Mary's and All Souls' for making these sermons available to those beyond their church walls!

The Bare Bones Guide to Twitter
twitter
The Atlantic Monthly presents a helpful guide to using Twitter. Quoting from the end of the article:

"Finally, the biggest question that most reluctant Twitter users pose is, Why? Why would I possibly care about facts randomly vomited by millions of strangers? Why do I need another digital tool to waste my time?

Here are three good reasons.

First, Twitter is the most comprehensive "pulse" of digital information today. If you want to know what digitally-oriented people are thinking and talking about now, it's the best tool.

Second, Twitter is personal."

Help Solicit Feedback for Strategic Plan
shield color

Your Strategic Planning Committee values your feedback and thanks you for the input you offered us at Diocesan Convention last month. It's important that this plan have the broadest input possible, and so we depend on your participation. We want to be sure to hear from your parishioners who were not at Convention as well. Please share the following link with them, and encourage them to share their thoughts on the draft Preamble, Vision, Mission and interpretation of the Baptismal Covenant, and invite them to share with us that which inspires them in your context, and in the diocesan context as well.

If you are a procrastinator, and have not yet planned a Lenten program, this draft plan might just suit.

We invite you to engage this conversation in whatever way is most meaningful in your community.

The survey will be live till April 13.
