Connect With Success
Royal Saudi Naval Force Headquarters

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Riyadh - Royal Saudi Naval ForceIn Riyadh, the RSNF had a problem with their headquarters facility. Like any government facility, they were looking to reduce energy costs while facing higher operating costs. But the issues faced by the RSNF were exacerbated by their aging pneumatic control system, installed 25 years earlier. The knowledge and skills needed to maintain such a system were becoming as obsolete as the system itself.

That's when the RSNF began planning a significant retrofit project to replace pneumatic control with electronic and digital control. Their established mechanical/electrical contractor, Gulf Group, recommended Bareeq Al-Tamayez for Trading Services (Bareeq), a local energy management contractor and an authorized representative of KMC Controls, to install a fully automated system. In turn, Bareeq recommended a BACnet solution.

"As exhibitors and attendees ourselves, we have always enjoyed the spirited networking  and camaraderie at the Facility Decisions opening night party. Now we are thrilled to be the hosts of this fun and productive soiree," said Michael R.Wilson, Marketing Committee Chair for BACnet International. "With our organization's event co-located at Facility Decisions, we are proud to offer a networking event that brings together all Facility Decisions participants including students, facility managers, engineers and building owners."

Facility Decisions Conference & Expo will be held at the Mirage Hotel Event Center in Las Vegas October 11- 12, 2011.

Another highlight of the show are the free education sessions

"These sessions will help facility managers better understand BACnet protocol, - whether they're new to the technology or current users - and determine how it can help them  increase the efficiency of their building systems, including heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning, lighting, access control, and fire detection," said Wendy Dietzler Director of Education, for Facility Decisions.

In addition to the free educational sessions, the Facility Decisions expo hall will include a BACnet International Product Pavilion with exhibits from a number of BACnet members showcasing their products and services.

Trend's TL1: A Powerful Integration Tool

Trend Control Systems USA (www.trend-americas.com) debuted the TL1. The TL1 is a Trend network device that utilizes Niagara AX® software to allow a Novar Logic One® system to interface, communicate and integrate with a Trend system. The TL1 replaces the Logic One executives located within a building. This functionality allows for communication and data to flow between Logic One devices and a Trend system, providing a supervisor to control the Logic One controllers.

Novar Logic One executive controllers are discontinued in the commercial market. As a result, building owners with existing Logic One systems were left with a situation wherein they were unable to update and maintain their existing building management systems (BMS), and were forced to invest in an entirely new BMS. The introduction of the TL1 changes this. The TL1 can replace existing Logic One executives throughout a building thereby extending the life of the Logic One system, and allowing a smooth migration path to a new and updated Trend system.

"The TL1 gives a cost-effective upgrade option for current Novar Logic One customers," said Todd Cowles, Trend Director of Sales- Americas. "The TL1 makes use of existing Logic One controllers while bringing data and control to a more capable and modern Trend front-end."

"With the TL1, building owners have additional options, and no longer need to perform a complete system replacement," said Gene Javri, Trend Product Manager. "Building owners can now modernize their system over time by expanding with Trend."

All Trend products are available through authorized Trend Technology Centers (TTCs). For product order and technical information, contact your local TTC or call Trend at 425.897.3900 or visit www.trend-americas.com.
