45 LOCAL agencies are depending on United Way and its volunteers to raise the much needed funds to help their clients!

2012 Begins a New Year for All

United Way is months into its fundraising campaign to support 45 LOCAL partner agencies this year! In 2010, more than 150,000 individuals were touched by United Way agencies - mentoring, tutoring, medical assistance, shelter, elderly care, food and more.

As the New Year begins and resolutions are starting, we hope you think about giving back this year to help local residents in Horry County. Think about these questions:

  • Do you know where your next meal is coming from?
  • Do you know where you will be sleeping tonight?
  • Have you had an illness or unexpected crisis that has caused a financial hardship?
  • Are you or one of your loved ones living with a disability or on a fixed income?
  • Do you have a job?

If none of the above applies to you - consider yourself fortunate. Many of your friends, neighbors and co-workers in Horry County may not be as fortunate. You can lend a helping hand by helping us successfully complete this year's United Way drive!

"As a long-time United Way volunteer, I can assure you that United Way works to solve the most important challenges that face our community. From children to seniors, a gift to United Way assists people in crisis, strengthens families, helps children succeed, helps the disabled, and contributes to everyone's health and wellness," states Cathe Singleton, Campaign Chair for United Way. "That is why I agreed to lead this campaign and I need your help!

You are working to help your neighbors through 45 health and human care agencies. And your donations stay right here where United Way does its best to make sure the agencies do their best. You never know when you and your family might need a helping hand. Pledge your support. Pledge to make a difference in Horry County. Encourage everyone to give generously to this year's United Way campaign because it happens here, it matters here!

Pledge your support today - call United Way at 843.347.5195, donate online, or mail a check to P.O. Box 673 Conway, SC 29528.

Remember, you are advancing the common good by improving lives and shaping our communities! Every United Way gift helps impact thousands of lives through 45 different LOCAL causes!

Volunteers Needed!

VITA, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, is preparing for the upcoming tax season and is on the "hunt" for volunteers!

The Horry County Financial Literacy Coalition, in partnership with United Way and the IRS, provide free income tax preparation services and financial education workshops throughout Horry County.

But we need volunteers like YOU who are willing to be trained and serve.  Volunteers generally work two days a week through the end of April.  No prior experience is needed, just a comfort with computers and working with your neighbors. Volunteers are trained by an IRS representative.

For more information, call the United Way office at 843.347.5195 or email us

Beacuse of you...

The lives of thousands of local people are improving. Your contribution to United Way of Horry County is an investment into the most efficient and effective programs that provide the greatest impact on the lives of people living in your own backyard.
