Welcome to today's South African Interest book book highlight!

As a result of objections by Mr. Trevor Manuel to his name being mentioned in Dr Allan Boesak's latest book, the publication and launch of Running with Horses - Reflections of an Accidental Politician was postponed from its original launch date of June 2009. The publishers agreed to the removal of Mr. Manuel's name from the passage in which he was mentioned and which he found offensive, and the book will be available from the 16th of July 2009.

In Allan Boesak's latest book, Running with Horses, he reflects upon his thirty years of activism: in the church and in public life, in South Africa and around the world, as theologian and preacher and as politician and community leader.

Running with Horses: Reflections of an Accidental Politician

Author: Allan Boesak

Allan Boesak offers an invitation to embark on an enlightening historical, political and spiritual journey. Running with Horses is a philosophical and intellectual reflection on South Africa's past.

Included in the book are writings and speeches by Allan Boesak which has never before been available to the South African public. Running with Horses consist of 18 thought-provoking chapters. He writes openly about various topics, among others, are:

· Radical Christianity and the Theology of Refusal
· Launch of the UDF
· The Consequences of the Struggle
· The Trouble with the ANC, SACP and Cosatu Alliance
Boesak therefore not only reflects on the past, but also reflects on the present as he addresses religion, race, reconciliation and justice in our Rainbow Nation.
The controversy surrounding his indictment for misappropriating international donations is also addressed in a chapter dealing with the politics of struggle funding.
Running with Horses concludes with Allan Boesak's memorable speech held at the Ashley Kriel Memorial, 25 years later the launch of the UDF and leaves the reader with a message of hope:

"Too many of us are despairing, mourning the loss of what we thought we had, bemoaning the state of our democracy, blaming others and forgetting our own responsibility. Let us be done with all that now ... Yesterday is behind the mist of night. Today is the gift of new arising. Tomorrow is the dawn of our awakening. The coming day belongs to us!"
