The Academy's education committee is now accepting applications for scholarships to attend the following conferences in 2010:
· Updates in Correctional Health Care, April 24-27 in Nashville, TN
· Correctional Mental Health, July 11-12 in Boston, MA
· National Conference on Correctional Health Care, Oct. 9-13 in Las Vegas, NV Each scholarship covers the cost of the registration fee and a travel stipend. The application deadline for all conferences is Monday, March 1, so apply today by filling out the online application. Learn more... |

Participating on a committee of the Academy of Correctional Health Professionals is one of the best opportunities for you to become more involved in your profession. | New Issue of JCHC Highlights Breadth & Scope of Correctional Health Care |
 By now, you should have received Volume 16, Issue 1, of the Journal of Correctional Health Care. This issue highlights emerging new fields of study and the role that correctional health programs play in the design of behavioral and community interventions and improving access to care.
According to JCHC editor John Miles, "Political officials are quick to forget that inmates return to the community upon their release and that correctional medicine is at the forefront in making sure that they return healthy. Once again, we must remind ourselves and the communities we live in that 'public health is public safety and public safety is public health.'" | |

| 2009 Election Results Are In! |
The 2009 election was a highly contested race for only one open seat on the board of directors. The results were announced to an enthusiastic crowd at the annual meeting in Orlando. The Academy is pleased to welcome B. Sue Medley-Lane, RN, CCHP, to its board.
The board also elected its officers when it convened on October 21. This year's officers are:

· Ralf Salke, Chair-elect
· Judith Robbins, Immediate Past Chair
· Jim Voisard, Secretary
· Todd Schwartz, Treasurer
