A Systemwide Approach to Managing Chronically Ill Patients in Correctional Health Care
March 31, 2007 Quincy, Massachusetts
Sponsored by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care and the Academy of Correctional Health Professionals
The key to effective management of chronically ill patients in any setting is cooperation between all parties involved. The correctional environment presents unique challenges to this strategy. This seminar will describe key elements of a systemwide approach using examples of common chronic medical and mental illnesses. The approach presented will be specific to managing chronic illness but will include universal concepts that can be implemented in most settings and applied to many common issues dealt with in correctional health care.
Registration is limited to promote a more interactive and collaborative educational experience. Formal lectures will be presented, with significant time set aside for case presentations, work groups, roundtable discussions and lots of questions.
