New Issue of JCHC Features Expanded Focus on Academic Medicine and Research
JCHC coverBy now, you should have received Volume 14, Issue 4, of the Journal of Correctional Health Care. This issue features several articles on the need for bridging the gap between academic medicine and correctional health care systems, and an introduction by Rear Adm. Newton E. Kendig, MD, assistant director of the Health Services Division of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Other articles in this issue address testing for communicable diseases, effects and strategies of shift work, and compliance profiles of medications for bipolar patients.

As always, continuing education credits for CCHPs, nurses, physicians and psychologists are available through a self-study exam.

Did you know? Academy members receive a complimentary subscription (a $105 value) to NCCHC's quarterly Journal of Correctional Health Care, published by SAGE. And the JCHC is available free exclusively to Academy members at http://jchc.sagepub.com. Instructions for accessing the JCHC online are always available at the resources section of our Web site.

Core Values
As an abiding expression of what the Academy's members believe, the board of directors recently adopted a statement of core values.

"A statement of values will help guide the Academy's policies, decision making and operations as it grows and changes," said Michael Adu-Tutu, DDS, MBA, CCHP-A (2005 chair) when he first tasked the board with developing the statement. Read the full statement online.
