Remain Teachable

Today's Scripture

Don't refuse to accept criticism; get all the help you can.  Proverbs 23:12

Today's Word from Marty and Jessica

57 Chevy

Some years ago I heard a story about baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson.  It seems while at bating practice one day Reggie known for his "home-run's" just couldn't connect with the ball right.  An old-timer standing next to the batting cage said, "Hey, Reggie.  If you don't mind an observation just lift your elbow a tad and you'll knock that baby right out of the park."  Wouldn't you know it, Reggie took the old-timers advise and his career went on to a whole new level.

The world is full of people who think they know everything.  They don't want to be instructed, and they think it shows weakness to learn from others.  They are wrong.  Listening to others is a sign of wisdom, not weakness.  Refusing to learn from others can be a great mistake.  It can cause a person who could have been successful to fall flat on his face.

I recall one of my greatest teachers telling me, "Marty, always remain teachable, it's the greatest advise I can give you, and when you're no longer teachable it's time to hang your hat up."

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I long for Your instruction, to know You more and to know Your way of living more.  Show me the way today that I may be all You made me to be, that I may accomplish all You made me to accomplish and to bless Your Name as I reach deep within my heart, that I may reach out into the world.  In Jesus' Name I pray.  Amen!
