No
matter who you are, who you think you are, or who people say you are, don't let
anyone tell you otherwise, God has an awesome plan for your life. Today can be a radical changing point in your
journey, but where you end up is going to be determined by the decisions you
make.
Each
of us is given that defining moment with an opportunity to make a decision that
will radically change our life and the lives of those around us. Should I go to college? Marry this person? Accept this position? Drop this habit? etc. The decisions we make today can make all the
difference in the world tomorrow literally.
Most
of us have heard that old saying, "I woulda, shoulda and coulda" and usually
the same person saying it is still stuck in a rut and continues along the same small-minded thinking and sadly never
gets beyond it.
Some
years ago a man walked into our church took out his checkbook and blessed us with
a sizable offering. That offering made
such a difference in the life of our ministry that today we are able to reach thousands
across the globe with the Word of God in so many different ways. After spending some time with this man one
day I asked him just how he became so wealthy.
He told me that he was a simple house painter, use to love drinking beer
everyday and just saw himself going nowhere.
After reading a book authored by Norman Vincent Peele called "The Power
of Positive Thinking" he began to see himself in a different light. He began to believe as he saw himself he
would become, and so he did. From a
simple house painter doing a job here and there he began to remodel broken down houses
one-by-one, then he began building new homes and eventually entire communities. The incredible thing about this story is he
did this during a recession while others were going out of business. Today, this man is worth millions of dollars
and has used his gift and money to change our world in many different
ways. His mind was transformed by
changing the way he thought and because of that defining moment in his life thousands
of lives continue to be enriched today.
As I spent more and more time with this man I found something extraordinarily
humbling about him, about the way he treated his family, employees, customers,
partners and others. His success was
based on relationships, something much more than believing in himself. His greatest achievement was his faith in God,
whom he took no credit for, yet it is that very faith that continues to provide
all he needs to bless the world around him to this very day.
Faith
or trusting your Creator makes all
the difference in the world, and only through a personal relationship with Him can
you ever discover His very personal plan for your life. Make it a point to begin spending more time
in God's Word and soon you too will discovery your new life is just about to
begin as God reaches out to His world through you.
