Years ago my grandmother told me, "Honesty is the measure of a man, it reveals his true identity."  When we lie, even over the smallest thing, it reveals our true character. 

     A few years ago a couple in trouble with the law sought help from me and insisted on seeing me at a specific time.  According to them, "it was an emergency".  So, to accommodate the couple I rearranged my schedule, canceled all of my appointments, and agreed to meet them.  When the time came to meet I headed to my office and saw the couple pass me in their car.  Just then my telephone rang and the man told me they were stuck in Pennsylvania and couldn't make the appointment.  The only problem was their car had just passed me and I clearly saw the man speaking on the telephone.  Needless to say, that little lie changed our relationship, because simply put, I couldn't trust his words any longer.  That day I told the young man, "It's funny; I just saw you pass my car and if you're in Pennsylvania that's an incredible trick, especially because I just saw your clone, and even more incredible he's driving a car exactly like yours with a woman that looks like your wife!"  Funny, I never heard from that couple ever again.

     Little lies can affect the blessings God has in store for you.  No matter what you face, always tell the truth and "The Truth" will always do you well in the end.
