breathe books "Perfect Health Through Ayurveda" Summer Class Registration Now Open!

Greetings!

I just returned from a week in New Mexico at the Ayurvedic Institute where I attended a Pulse Reading Intensive course with the magnificent Dr. Vasant Lad, so I'm even more excited about my Ayurvedic practice and cannot wait to share the secrets of the pulse with you. I will incorporate some of what I learned in our upcoming course!

There's still time to find balance, harmony and peace in your life this summer! My five-week Perfect Health Through Ayurveda class is coming up and I still have space for a few more people. Class will be held on Tuesdays, July 17, 24, & 31, Wednesday, August 1, and the final class on Tuesday, August 14, from 6:30 pm - 9 pm. We will also have one optional grocery shopping day on Saturday, July 28, 1 pm - 4 pm. Make-up dates will be available!

So what is Perfect Health? Perfect Health is my signature Ayurvedic course which delves deeply into the 5000-year-old Indian science of health and healing. I'll give you the tools and techniques to create a healthy life-style, based on your individual needs.

Through Ayurveda you will learn how to take care of and nourish yourself, aligning with the elements and seasons to help you in every aspect of your life:
  • find your perfect weight
  • learn what foods are best for you, and why
  • deepen your sleep
  • feel refreshed, awake and aware all day
  • reduce stress
  • lessen and even obliterate cravings (foods as well as emotional)
  • help you make decisions
  • clear your mind, body and living space of what no longer serves you
  • create focus and discernment to help you make the best decisions
Hundreds of people have taken this class since I began offering it in 2008. This is the only time I will be holding the five-week session in 2012. I hope you can join me on this journey which changed my life!Susan 1 2011 When I began my Ayurvedic practice the teachings touched me so deeply that I dived right in and embraced the practice so completely that I became a Chopra Center Certified Teacher of Ayurveda as well as a consultant and cooking teacher. My results included 50-pound weight loss (even after 4 years!) and an 80-point reduction on my cholesterol! I love teaching this course as it continues to evolve and strengthen my resolve to all things Ayurveda. Give me a call anytime for more information. I can be reached at the store: 410-235-7323; cell phone: 410-979-2096; email: [email protected]. Please sign up by Monday, July 9th to ensure your space.

The following is a class by class description of the five-week program. Interwoven into each class is my personal expereince with my Ayurvedic journey as well as things I've learned from my students and other Ayurvedic practitioners and teachers.

The Perfect Health course offers a five-step exploration of mind-body medicine and Ayurveda. The course is designed for the general public who have had little or no previous understanding of these concepts as well as those who want to deepen their knowledge and learn more about incorporating Ayurveda into their daily routine. Each of the five lessons includes instruction in the practical tools and techniques of mind-body medicine that participants can immediately begin using in their daily lives.

Session One, Tuesday, July 17, 6:30 pm - 9 pm: Susan Weis-Bohlen will introduce you to the foundational principles of Ayurveda, meditation, and yoga as well as the three primary mind-body doshas or personalities: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Through an in-depth questionnaire and analysis, you'll discover your own dosha type.

Session Two, Tuesday, July 24, 6:30 pm - 9 pm: In this session on "Food as Medicine," you will learn how to select the most nourishing foods for your mind-body type. Susan will also guide you in Ayurvedic nutritional practices that will help you maintain vibrant health, appropriate weight, and optimized digestion.
