Imagine:
Visions of Peace Retreat
 July 2 - 8, 2012
Greetings!

Once in a while a truly special event crosses my path that I want to let you know about. Imagine: Visions of Peace Summer Retreat is happening this July at the Pearlstone Retreat Center. I think many of you will find this a wonderful opportunity to ignite and engage the whole family in a way you've never done before, with Ruach Ha'Aretz, a mobile retreat division of ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal. I believe this retreat offers so many unique ways for families to engage with each other -- it's not to be missed!

Registration is now underway for Imagine: Visions of Peace, a week-long retreat from July 2 through 8, 2012 at Pearlstone Conference and Retreat Center in Reisterstown, MD.

This Ruach Ha'Aretz retreat will feature classes that reference Torah, Talmud, Midrash, Zohar, and Hasidic texts; diverse Jewish musical traditions; teachers with years of experience in congregational life, academia, dance and song-leading; an innovative Ruach Kids program that bursts with creativity.

Adult participants have the opportunity to learn from some of the finest teachers in the Jewish Renewal movement; children experience Jewish life and community in a safe and organic container; families discover new ways to learn and play together; and the Ruach community becomes a touchstone in everyone's lives.

Ruach Ha'Aretz has been offering spiritually rich retreat experiences for families, couples, single adults since 1996, when it was founded as a West Coast retreat program. Since 1997, they have been known for excellent programming for children at Ruach Ha'Aretz, and the balance they strike between youth focused activities and integrating the children into the Ruach community. Ruach Kids will share their unique learning and energy throughout the week during meals, Mincha time, evening programs and Shabbat.

In the past few years, Ruach has begun to move around the country and is returning to the East Coast for just the second time.

Their experience has been that people return home from Ruach Ha'Aretz retreats inspired to deepen their own religious and spiritual commitments and energized to bring what they have learned to their congregations and communities.

While the adult learning will be devoted to the theme, Imagine: Visions of Peace, Ruach Kids will be Embodying Peace. Through a program full of creativity, wonder, and close community they will embody peace and discover what it truly feels like to "Be the Change!" With a new adventure each day, the kids will work with a diversity of modalities to create & cultivate the peaceful container for them to explore their relationship with Jewish spirituality in a way that is personally meaningful, relevant, and absolutely experiential! Through art, music, movement, writing, stories, games, nature, and spirituality, the kids at Ruach will have a vibrant, fun, and deeply nourishing Jewish experience.

Ruach Kids co-directors, Mia Cohen and Amitai Gross, both returning for their second time in this role, come to Ruach Ha'Aretz with vast experience in outdoor and youth education and a passion for this year's theme. Learn more about them here.
