susan's musings
Hi Everyone,
In meditation class a few weeks ago we worked with the mantra Om Namah Shivaya and the group reaction was very moving. I brought up the mantra because I had a root canal that day and while I was sitting in the dentist's chair I thought -- what an amazing opportunity to just chant for an hour and half! I chose Om Namah Shivaya and silently chanted and meditated during the procedure.

When the doctor was finished I was astonished at how quickly the time passed by -- and how enjoyable the experience was (I know this is so weird, right?!). I felt elated! The root canal and healing afterwards was painless. All I could attribute it to was having the chance to meditate on the mantra.

I told our Thursday night meditation group my story and we all used Om Namah Shivaya as our mantra that evening. Subsequently several people told me that they are using the chant and finding it useful and peaceful, so I wanted to offer it to you as well.

According to Swami Muktananda, chanting Om Namah Shivaya means "I bow to the Lord, who is the Baba Muktanadainner Self. Repeat it silently, at the same rate of speed with which you speak. Repeat it with love and go deep inside. Understand that you are the deity of the mantra. Lose yourself in meditation. No matter what feeling arises, let it be. Do not fear."

Feel free to use the mantra whenever the need arises or when there is no need at all.

And please join any of our meditation groups at breathe to learn more!

Two of the world's most eminent thinkers believe that the universe itself may be a giant hologram, quite literally a kind of The Holographic Universeimage or construct created, at least in part, by the human mind. University of London physicist David Bohm, a protégé of Einstein and one of the world's most respected quantum physicists, and Stanford neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, an architect of our modern understanding of the brain, have developed a remarkable new way of looking at the universe. Their theory explains not only many of the unsolved puzzles of physics but also such mysterious occurrences as telepathy, out-of-body and near-death experiences, 'lucid' dreams, and even religious and mystical experiences such as feelings of cosmic unity and miraculous healings." everythingayurvedaNEW! Everything Ayurveda: 3 Month Comprehensive Course, March 20 - May 22, 2012, with Susan Weis-Bohlen
For the past three years I've been teaching many different Ayurvedic life-style classes, cooking classes and offering private consultations. Hundreds haveSusan Dec. 2010 gone through one program or another, and have seen amazing results and life-style changes. Now you can find it all in one course, over three months.

As many of you may know, I began practicing Ayurveda in late 2007 and subsequently lost 50 pounds and reduced my cholesterol by 80 points. Ayurveda also helped me open my heart, heal old wounds and experience life in a brand new way, clear of clutter and full of enthusiasm. These changes convinced me to delve deeper into the wisdom of this 5000-year-old Vedic Indian system of health and healing, which led me to study with The Chopra Center of Wellbeing and with Amadea Morningstar.

In addition to feeling terrific, Ayurveda gave me a deeper understanding of people and relationships. I believe that Ayurveda is ultimately to thank for my 2010 marriage to Larry! Without Ayurveda, I don't think I would have been clear and present enough to recognize my true love. I sincerely believe Ayurveda unveiled this wonderful life -- health, happiness, love and a feeling that I have all the tools I need to stay on this path forever.

In light of my experiences and several years of teaching, I've put together a three-month program designed to give you ALL YOU NEED to create an Ayurvedic life-style for your self!
