Susan's Musings
| As the winds swept through this weekend, the leaves flew off the trees and swirled in whirlwinds in the street. I love this time of year. I vividly remember seeking out dried leaves to walk on to hear their familiar crunch when I used to live in Tel Aviv. I think we kind of had autumn leaves for a few weeks every year!
I love living with the four seasons, and the possibilities that transitions bring. With each new season we need to remember to be easy on ourselves. To eat "comfort" food -- food that literally comforts our bodies - warm, easy to digest and nutritious. That's what I'll be demonstrating at Ayurvedic Cooking class on Tuesday, October 25 at Roland Park Country School at 6 p.m. If you would like me to come to your house or office to teach Ayurvedic/Indian vegetarian cooking, give me a call or email! Have knives and spices and will travel!
Well, this Saturday, October 22, is our 7th birthday! I opened breathe books on that date in 2004 -- and although I really did imagine we would be a successful, thriving bookshop, I could have never predicted the amazing journey it's taken me on. This entrepreneur experience has been deeply satisfying and completely transformational. I'm just in awe of it all -- everyone I've met, the presenters and authors who have visited, and the magical people who walk through this door.
Many of you know I met my husband Larry here -- he walked in the door on December 6, 2009 (hang out here for a little while -- you never know what could happen!). I

| have to say Larry is the ultimate gift that breathe books has brought me. How do I top that?!
Everyday here is an adventure and I have to remind myself on some of the slower days that you never, ever know what's going to come your way. Good things continue to arrive, like puppy Ella, in the arms of her foster mom Robyn Jacobs, on December 30, 2010. We took her home and never gave her back! (Thank you, Robyn, from us all!!)
So we will continue on, welcoming surprises as the surface, and always looking for new and innovative ways to be here for you, our customers. 2012 promises to be amazing in many ways! Stop by Saturday to meet Ella, have a piece of cake and a cup of tea and help us celebrate 7 years! Ella Picture of the Week:

Flower essences are derived from flower petals and distilled through a special process. Essential oils are the aromatic extracts from flowers, stems, leaves, roots and seeds and are also distilled and have many healing properties. Step back in time with us to see how plants and flowers can keep our animals happy and healthy. Cost: $15 Sunday, October 30, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Dredging the Choptank: Meet the Author Kimberley Lynne In spring 2003, the Dorchester County Arts Center commissioned Kim to write a ghost walking tour for High Street in Cambridge, Maryland. In col lecting local folklore, she kepty a diary that evolved into this supernatural thriller about a writer investigating ghost legend. The book is more than a supernatural thriller; it's a layman's guide to the spectral folklore of Dorchester County. Like a parable with a little bit of dangerous truth, except for the final chapter, the stories are true. Dredging the Choptank does not presume to propose one metaphysical solution to the question of phantoms but instead promotes the consideration of many possibilities and acknowledges that America as a culture is on the brink of a new paradigm that necessitates a shift in belief systems. Perfect for Halloween! Come by to meet the author. See more here! Cost: free |

Tarot Readings with Cece Anna Lee When we have a reading together, one of my goals is to get my ego out of the process so that you can open up to encountering confidence in your own vision and purpose, and a sense of rightness with how everything is linked in your life. Your own energy goes into the cards- you're the driver in the journey into a symbolic land. The reading is a helicopter view of all the influences we'll see affecting your present situation. I'm just the interpreter. No reading is set in stone or inevitable-you are always the master of your destiny. It's about realizing what options you have, rather than foretelling a fixed future. A good reading should broaden our minds and help us get unstuck from situations that create suffering.
