Hello All, | It's 1/11/11! It looks so linear and perfect...but according to Wabi Sabi -- the Japanese Feng Shui - we find perfection in imperfection. So I'm looking at my imperfections and searching for areas of growth which can lead to a kind of perfection, in an imperfect sort of way!
I'm thinking a lot about Ekhart Tolle lately. In his marvelous book, A New Earth, he gives some deceptively simple advice -- if something does not bring you joy, don't do it.
So this year I'm going to try to do things that bring me great joy and lessen things that don't so much. Teaching and learning make me happy. I'll do more of that. Running certain types of programs and taking risks brings up feelings of overwhelment, anxiety and stress. I'll do less of that. I'm going to look intently at what makes me happy and dive deeply into the joy pool! I hope you will do the same.
Coming in 2011 I wanted to let you know about some events and programs that will bring us all great joy this year. Save the dates!

Many people have gone on to make significant and wonderful changes in the the way they are living their lives. It's your turn!Course Outline:Perfect Health Through AyurvedaThe Perfect Health course offers a five-step exploration of mind-body medicine and Ayurveda. The course is designed for the general public who have had little or no previous understanding of these concepts. Each of the five lessons includes instruction in the practical tools and techniques of mind-body medicine that participants can immediately begin using in their daily lives. Session One: I'll introduce you to the foundational principles of Ayurveda, meditation, and yoga as well as the three primary mind-body doshas or personalities: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Through an in-depth questionnaire and analysis, you'll discover your own dosha type. Session Two: In this session on "Food as Medicine," you will learn how to select the most nourishing foods for your mind-body type. I'll also guide you in Ayurvedic nutritional practices that will help you maintain vibrant health, appropriate weight, and optimized digestion. Session Three: This session focuses on the tools and practices of rejuvenation and renewal. You'll learn how to identify and eliminate toxins that accumulate in the mind and body. In addition, you will be guided in gentle rejuvenating practices, holistic techniques to relieve stress and anxiety, a personal daily routine for balance and health, and the secrets of restful sleep. Session Four: Learn why emotional freedom is the key to our physical, mental, and emotional health. I will teach you the practice of conscious communication, based on the work of Marshall Rosenberg, which can transform your relationships and help you experience more intimacy and joy in your life. Learn how to ask for what you need in a way that ensures harmony with all involved. Session Five: The final session delves into the healing power of the five senses: sound, touch, sight, taste, and smell. You'll learn how to strengthen the body's inner pharmacy by using specific tools that use each of the senses to heal, nourish, and balance your mind-body. Cost: Materials and food samplings: $395 (price has been reduced $100 to help more people take the class).

before one's own. What we're not taught, however, is how important it is to learn to receive. Too often, we are reluctant to embrace philosophies and behaviors that put our needs above, or even equal to, those of others for fear of being viewed as selfish. Amanda Owen, popular Astrology.com columnist and founder of the transformative Receive and Manifest seminars, has set out to fix this imbalance. In THE POWER OF RECEIVING: A Revolutionary Approach to Giving Yourself the Life You Want and Deserve, she presents a new paradigm for the 21st century, drawing from such wide-ranging inspirations as Eastern and Buddhist philosophies, quantum theory, and plain, old-fashioned common sense, THE POWER OF RECEIVING utilizes a simple formula: Believe + Receive = Achieve, to teach us how to open ourselves to life's gifts, big and small.
