Hello All!
"As we continued the trek I was struck by an upwelling of obscure feelings. The sheer beauty seemed to summon some deep nocturnal emotions. I was longing for something, I realized -- perhaps one of those precious moments when I might stand quiet and alone, gazing out over the terrain of an ancient world where history is measured by a scale of billions rather than hundreds, thousands or even millions of years. What I craved was a moment to contemplate my own place... we would not be this way again."

Before I tell you where this quote comes from, take a moment to remember if you have ever been to such a place.  A place where you longed for just a few more minutes to take it all in. A moment of solitude to imprint the vision, feelings, emotions on your mind.

When I read this I thought of so many places I've visited and wished I'd had more time to really "feel" the place. Sacred sites, a particular sun rise, the sounds of animals in the wild.

What makes the quote above so sadly sweet is that the writer knew he really would not "be this way again." The writer is the astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell. The place was the surface of the moon in 1971. The book is The Way of the Explorer: An Apollo Astronaut's Journey Through the Material and Mystical Worlds.

After his extraordinary experiences on the moon, Mitchell continued to explore, founding the Institute of Noetic Science -- IONS. The spirit of exploration continues at breathe books. The new Baltimore Ions group gets together to talk about the place where science meets metaphysics. The one thing everyone in the group has in common is the excitement of the unknown and the yearning to look deeper into our connection to one another, the planet, the universe and other worlds.

This group is open to the public. We are meeting here on the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m. (This month it's May 10). We also have an IONS book club, which will meet on Tuesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. The Way of the Explorer will be discussed at this meeting. See details below and please join us! You can see more on facebook!

Other events this week and next include best-selling author Bruce Feiler at the Owings Mills JCC Thursday, May 6. He'll be talking about his new best seller Council of Dads. We'll be on hand with Bruce's books. Find out about ticket sales here.

Friday night at 7 p.m. join us for Margit's Singing Bowl Meditation - please be mindful and arrive on time as doors will close at 7:10 so as not to disturb the beautiful atmosphere Margit creates with the bowls and words.

And the renowned therapist and psychic/intuitive Dr. Laurie Ann Levin is coming to us from California on Tuesday to talk about her new book God, The Universe and Where I Fit In.
Cochin

In her new book, Laurie Ann shares her extraordinary life story and illustrates how we can tap into the divine guidance that is always available to us. Free talk! Laurie answers Five Questions on Larry King Live here.
I'm so looking forward to meeting Laurie. Her book is great and I know the talk will be too!

Lots more below in the events calendar including Pathways Wellness and Personal Coaching class which meets tonight, and a breathwork workshop next weekend!

Also, Michael Mirdad joins us at the end of May for private sessions as well as a one-day workshop on Tantra and Sacred Sexuality. We are taking appointments for him now - space is limited!

Thursday, May 6, 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Meet the Author: Bruce Feiler: Council of Dads
Council of DadsIn 2008, Bruce Feiler, writer-presenter of the PBS miniseries, Walking the Bible, learned he had a life-threatening tumor in his left femur. Confronting the possibility that he may not be around to help his daughters grow up, he reached out to six men from all passages in his life and asked them to be present through the passages in his daughters' lives. He called this group of men The Council of Dads and wrote a book about the experience. This is a deeply hopeful book, a story of enduring love between a husband and wife and between a father and his daughters. But most of all it's a celebration of friendship and a testament to the profound power of human connections.

Tuesday, May 11, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Meet the Author Laurie Ann Levin: God, The Universe, and Where I Fit In

God, the Universe, and Where I Fit InAuthor and clinical psychologist Laurie Ann Levin, Psy.D. she shares her incredible spiritual journey chronicled in her memoir God, The Universe, and Where I Fit In. A child of high-functioning alcoholics, Dr. Levin knew she had intuitive abilities but with no one to talk to about it was unable to grasp the full meaning of this gift. Later, as a Hollywood agent and producer she honed her intuition, earning a reputation for her ability to discover talent in actors before anyone else recognized them. But still she didn't feel spiritually complete.

The turning point in her life came when she was able to use her intuitive gift to help her mother, who was losing her battle with cancer, transition to the other side. She understood her true calling as a spiritual healer, and went back to school to get her doctorate in psychology. In the process, she pioneered a new approach to psychoanalysis called Soul Communion(TM). Dr. Levin also helped to create a new protocol for mental health, founding a holistic, transformational institute called Moonview Sanctuary which blends ancient healing practices with modern medicine, psychology and neuroscience.
