 Pastor Laura Recognized...
A note from member Larry Warder
Dear BCUMC Friends,
I had the good luck to discover, quite by accident, that our pastor Laura has been accorded some very prestigious national honors. I would like to share with you what I learned.
Laura was one of 24 young pastors selected for a Lewis Fellowship two years ago. There have been four additional groups since. The fellowship is granted by the Wesley Seminary's Lewis Center for Church Leadership. This is quite an honor. Furthermore, they selected one Fellow (which happened to be our Pastor Laura Heikes) out of the 96 who have been through the program to attend the Ministry Leadership Summit.
Last week, she attended the conference. It consisted of pastors from Episcopalian, Lutheran, Baptist, Presbyterian and A.M.E, UCC, and other denominations. She attended with a group from the Wesley Seminary's Lewis Center for Church Leadership. Her group included the President of Wesley Seminary, the associate director of the Lewis Center and Randy Cross, of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry. Other attendees included notables such as the President of the Alban Institute, director of the Religion Division of the Lilly Endowment, and professors and deans from Notre Dame, Princeton, Duke and various seminaries.
This is a real honor for a young pastor to be asked to participate in such an important endeavor. I thought that y'all would like to know.

Ash Wednesday Service Tomorrow

 Please join us this Wednesday at 6:00 pm as we mark the beginning of Lent by celebrating Ash Wednesday. Lent is a 40 day season that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter. We symbolize our commitment to accompany Christ on his journey through this service and the marking of ashes on our forehead.

New Sermon Series started this month: DRIVE
What fuels your life? Do you know where you're going? The book of Luke paints a picture of our Savior on a mission - to bring God's kingdom to earth, to set people free. He charts a course for our lives. This Lent, our Drive series will take us through the book of Luke. We'll choose our fuel, get our learner's permit, tackle break-downs and even deal with mixed-messages life so often sends our way. Join us as we discover Drive.  2011 Easter Activities Schedule You're Invited to our back porch for Palm Sunday! Sunday, April 17th, 11:00 am (Note: One service only) Join us for an outdoor community worship service overlooking Lake Travis. Bring something to sit on and join us on the back porch at 11:00am. There will be live music, friendly folks, and the best worship setting possible. Afterwards, the kids are invited to our community Easter Egg hunt. We'll wrap up with a free, neighborhood lunch. Bee Loved Preschool Fall Registration and Summer Camp
Fall Registration: *Last week for open enrollment for BCUMC members. Bee Loved will open enrollment to the community on March 15, 2011. Please click here to find registration forms. Be sure to get your forms in early to ensure your child has a position held for them.
Summer Camp: Bee Loved Preschool will offer two exciting summer camp options this summer. The camp is open for children ages 2 to 5 years old. Each camp will run from Monday - Thursday for two weeks. Meeting for 5th grade students (and parents) transitioning into Youth Group

Volunteers Needed for Growing Youth Group Program

Women's Ministry Enchanted Rock Walk
Saturday, March 19th, Meet at the church at 7:45am
Get your walking shoes on! The Women's Ministry will be traveling to Enchanted Rock on Saturday, March 19th. You can make the short hike to the top of Enchanted Rock and enjoy the view & fellowship (you might want to bring a lawn chair) or you can continue hiking and complete the full 4 miles to the top and around the base of the dome. Mission Team currently in Harlingen, TX
This week, the Bee Creek UMC Mission Team is visiting First United Methodist Church in Harlingen, Texas. They have been working on worthy projects set up by the Mission Coordinator in the McAllen District.
Please be in prayer for this group as they work as the hands and feet of Christ. We pray that they have a successful week helping others and return safely later this week.
