Greetings!
June 15, 2010 was a special day for UCE. On that day, His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala endorsed Universal Chastity Education. Cardinal Wamala was one of the 123 cardinal electors in the 2005 Papal conclave that selected Pope Benedict XVI.
UCE has been blessed by Archbishops, Bishops, Priests, Pastors and community leaders who are Anglican, Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist and evangelical Christians.
These leaders in Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania and the USA are united behind UCE. They agree that scriptural teachings of abstinence until faithful marriage are what God intended for us--for many reasons, one of which is to keep us healthy. Abstinence in youth builds the character to stay faithful in marriage.
Imagine! Christians with resources getting behind Christians with resolve: Together we can inspire each other and prevent AIDS and save lives at the same time.
Faithfully yours, Kim and Ken Dernovsek

UCE is Backed by Christian Clergy of various denominations in Uganda, Burundi and Tanzania UCE is unique because Christians are working together to solve the AIDS crisis in sub-Saharan Africa by encouraging people to return to the Biblical standards of chastity: saving sex until marriage and then staying faithful to the marriage partner.
In Africa, the most common mode of transmission of HIV is not through dirty needles, mother-to-child transmission or blood products. In Africa, HIV is spread primarily through sexual relationships.
UCE is committed to teaching people that they cannot get a sexually transmitted disease if they have no sex partners (ABSTINENCE). Likewise married people cannot get a sexually transmitted disease if neither partner strays outside the marital bed ("no grazing" in rural African terms, i.e. FAITHFULNESS)
