Tanzanian Fr. Msofu recording an UCE outreach in UgandaGreetings!
Sometimes we are reminded that it is God who is in control.

In the summer of 2008 a Tanzanian priest sought out UCE for help ending HIV/AIDS asking, "Why build another school if our children will die from AIDS?" Numbed by the reality of his statement we reluctantly told him that we didn't have the funds to start UCE in a third country.

He persisted and went to his Bishop. Together they asked if the priest and a colleague could travel to join UCE-Uganda in rural outreach. Their idea was to learn first-hand from those in the country that holds the world's record for the greatest success ever against AIDS. They went to Uganda and after observing the UCE team in action (see photo above), they were convinced that the UCE approach would work in  Iringa Region. They asked us for money again, which we did not have.

In faith, these Roman Catholics formed a UCE team with Iringa Lutherans and asked our permission to use their own meager existing funds to register UCE as a non-governmental organization and draft bylaws and constitution. Still without any money from us, they creatively added their first UCE youth outreach onto another existing Christian youth event. (see next story)

Surely God has inspired this Tanzanian perseverance to save their youth. Their faith now calls us to action. We went to Tanzania in August 2009 to be certain that their operations, staffing and principles were Universal Chastity Education. We were impressed. The UCE Board will follow their lead and move forward with UCE-Tanzania.

We believe that God will  bring more donors to UCE. Why? Because these Africans trust that it will be so. Will you be one who responds to the prayers of God's faithful? Please consider joining UCE today.

Faithfully yours,
Kim and Ken Dernovsek

UCE Tanzania cards"The Light at Last Has Come Among the Youth"
Field Report submitted by Isaac Lema, Programs Coordinator, UCE Tanzania

"We thank God that on Tuesday 07th April 2009, UCE team in Tanzania conducted its outreach in Easter conference of Tanzania Youth Christian Students (TYCS) in Iringa region. The conference comprises 330 secondary students from various schools in Iringa region.

The topics presented included "Current Tanzania HIV/AIDS Statistics, What Causes the Spread of HIV/AIDS among the Youth, Abstinence and True Love Waits". The team was given the whole day where all topics were presented and discussed.

After the presentations of all topics the team provided plain papers for the students to write their questions where we received more than two hundred questions based on presented topics. The team answered and conducted discussion on some questions. Since we have many questions, the team planned to work on the remaining unanswered questions and prepare answers for them and put it in a pamphlet so that every youth can get them.

After two hours of discussions and answers the team distributed the UCE cards for the youth who were ready to commit themselves to Abstain till marriage. Two hundred and fifty two youth signed the commitment cards on abstinence. The youth were happy to hear the news of UCE. Moreover the teachers and parents who were in the company of youth were very happy and they said the light at last has come among the youth."
