3 Ways to Reduce Your SAVSECDTA Time
by Carol Woodbury
Co-founder, President & CTO, SkyView Partners, Inc.

Saving your security data should be part of your normal daily saves; however, I've heard of some organizations avoiding performing a SAVSECDTA (Save Security Data) because of the length of time it takes.  This newsletter discusses three ways to reduce the time it takes to perform a SAVSECDTA.

Tip 1 of 3
When a SAVSECDTA is performed, user profiles, authorization lists and private authorities are saved.  So my first tip is to remove inactive profiles.  Not only is it a good security practice to remove profiles that are not used - it also helps to reduce the time it takes to save security data.  In addition, many of you use that SAVSECDTA to build a new partition.  If you have unused profiles on that save then they are going to be restored to your new partition and the problem is propagated.
