Every January it seems like the media is plastered with ads for diet plans, sales on exercise equipment and reduced health club memberships. So it seemed appropriate to provide some focus on a growing concern - protecting healthcare information. And lest you think that this concern only applies to doctors' offices and hospitals, think again.

To help shed more light on this growing issue, I've asked SkyView VP of Healthcare, Dr. Bob Abbott, to provide some insight.  Here's what Bob had to say:

"...  all eyes are shifting to implementation of the "voluntary" HITECH legislation passed by the Obama administration whose scope is far more reaching than HIPAA's. Perhaps the most daunting issue, however, is that many organizations well beyond what has previously been considered traditional healthcare must now also come to grips with broadened breach notification laws that are sweeping through State legislatures."
