This week's focus point -
dave niehaus
Dave Niehaus 1935-2010

Last Wednesday, the voice of baseball in Seattle was silenced.

Dave Niehaus was the voice of the Seattle Mariners for 34 years. I never met the man, however he spoke directly to me every summer, every day. Dave had the innate ability to paint a picture of a game so that everyone listening to him could clearly see the action.

As I write this, I'm listening to memories of Dave over the internet. The impact he had on generations of Seattle sports fans is palpable. His ability to connect through the radio and television with people he never knew was unbelievable. It was like he was your favorite uncle who came into your house every day and spun stories. He was genuine, he was real, and he was passionate. You experienced the joy and sadness of the team through him. That is inspiring.

This should be a lesson to all of us in our relationships. If we can all impact people in our lives as Dave Niehaus impacted the Pacific Northwest, then we have truly succeeded in our relationships and lives.

This week's quote -"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty."
- Winston Churchill
