This week's focus point - Teamwork.
One of my newest clients is a barbershop quartet organization called the Kitsap Chordsmen. It's a group of about 40 men who lend their vocal talents as a team to form incredible music.
I had the opportunity to sit in and observe a practice session. One thing in particular caught my attention. The director noted that each of the four vocal groups (tenor, bass, baritone, and lead) by themselves singing a line was pretty basic. It was nice, but not notable. However, when you blended in all four talents, the result was incredible. By themselves, they were ordinary. As a unit, they were spectacular.
The same message holds true in business and in life. I don't care if you are a sole practitioner or a large corporation. We can't be brilliant by ourselves. As one, we are ordinary. As a team, spectacular. In life, we have family, friends, and groups we belong to. I am a member of a Rotary Club, Toastmasters clubs, and a school board. Individually we can never accomplish what we do collectively. In other words, we don't make beautiful music by ourselves.
This week's quote -"Live life on the edge. The view is better!" Someone at a meeting I really didn't want to be at - you see you can always find value if you look! Revised from the mess last week!
