This week's focus point - Outlook on Life.
Last Thursday, my car died while I was driving down the hill to my home. I was able to steer it to safety; re-start the car; and drive it home. After waiting for awhile, I drove it about 3 blocks to my mechanic. The next day he gave me the news I didn't want to hear. Fuel pump, rear brakes, and a leak coming out of someplace that needed to be fixed. Bottom line was a big bill!
I wasn't a very happy camper at first blush. However, after a brief pause to consider things, I realized how fortunate I was. That car had gone to the airport the previous night to pick up our daughter and drive back around 1:00 am. I had been to a meeting about 35 miles from home that very day. That was the car my wife and I were going to drive to Spokane for the conference I was speaking at. The fuel pump could have decided to go belly-up crossing the Tacoma Narrows Bridge at midnight; the furthest point of my drive that day; or going over Snoqualmie Pass on the way to Spokane. I couldn't have found a better location for "tragedy" than the one that was given to me.
Bad things happen all the time to us. How we respond will determine how
we live our life daily. We can choose to be cynical, jaded, negative,
and depressed or we can consider ourselves fortunate to be breathing in
and out while living on a planet hurtling in space around a fiery star. It's our choice to be positive and enjoy life.
What do you choose?
This week's quote -"Live life on the edge. The view is better!" Someone I don't at a meeting at a meeting I really didn't want to be at - you see you can always find value if you look!
